El caserío de Icor, pese a ser pocas las viviendas y con carácter de austeridad, tiene un gran valor como muestra de una arquitectura rural conservada con gran pureza. Los elementos constructivos son materiales que ha aportado la propia naturaleza en el entorno del caserío: piedra, madera y barro.
La distribución de la vivienda suele coincidir con la parte habitacional en la planta baja y el granero en la planta alta, denotando el carácter agrícola del caserío. Licor ha estado habitado desde época aborigen hasta la actualidad, como atestiguan los yacimientos arqueológicos existentes en la zona, y los documentos históricos, como los repartos de tierras tras la conquista española.

The hamlet of Icor, although few homes with character of austerity, has great value as a sign of a rural architecture conserved with great purity. The constructive elements are materials provided by nature itself in the surroundings of the village: stone, wood and clay.

La Villa de Arico. Arico Village

La Villa de Arico es un caserío del siglo XVII que cuenta con la ermita de San Juan Bautista construida entre 1590 y 1610, alrededor de la que se encuentra un casco antiguo de singular interés. Además de sus calles, casas e iglesia, la villa también posee unos lavaderos en excepcional estado de conservación y una fuente que proveía de agua a todos sus habitantes en el pasado. Como sistema de edificación de las casas, destacan los patios abiertos con las estancias a su alrededor. La piedra chascare, extraída de las canteras del propio municipio, es un elemento constructivo por excelencia. Bajo este entramado arquitectónico, en los barrancos colindantes subyace la impronta aborigen en forma de viviendas cuevas, a lo que se une la existencia de varios nacientes de agua. Arico obtiene el título de Villa de la mano del Rey Alfonso XIII en 1916.

Los Gigantes. Kajak and paddle surf with "Teno Activo"

This summer, I and my family had the oportunity to enjoy two excursions with the nature entertainment company Teno Activo. We had a wonderful time. First time we sailed through the Acantilados de los Gigantes cliff on a paddle. They explain you all about flora and fauna of the zone, you get several pauses to swim in the open sea, and they teach you how to sail in such a thing :-) Be prepared with solar protection cream.

Second time, we took a ship for whale watching. We saw a lot of dolphins, tropical calderon whales, and even a Rorcual. Children were so excited! The they left us at Playa de Masca for a couple of hours, and we went back to the harbour by Kayak. prefect day! http://www.tenoactivo.com/eng/index.htm Este verano mi familia tuvo la oportunidad de disfrutar de dos excursiones con la empresa de ocio Teno Activo. Lo pasamos en grande. La primera vez navegamos por el acantilado de Los Gigantes en Paddle Surf. Te explican todo acerca de la flora, la fauna y la geología del paisaje. Hacen pausas para nadar en mar abierto, y te enseñan a navegar en esa cosa :-) (Vayan preparados con protección solar) La segunda excursión tomamos un barco para ver ballenas. Vimos delfines, calderones tropicales, e incluso el mucho más raro rorcual. ¡Los niños estaban tan excitados! Nos dejaron unas horas en la playa de Masca, y volvimos al puerto remando en kayac. ¡Un día redondo!

How to brush a donkey

We teach our guests important things at la Malvasia. One of them has been how to brush a donkey. I is important to be relaxed. Otherwise you would stress the animal. The best thing to get relaxed is to arrive to our houses a few hours before you start to brush it. That is the approximate time you need to get rid off the stress you've bring with you from home. Know you are in communion with the place, brush and enjoy.

En La Malvasía enseñamos cosas importantes a nuestros huéspedes. Una de ellas es cómo cepillar un burro. Es importante estar relajado para acometer la tarea, porque de otra manera, transferiríamos nuestro estrés al animal. La mejor forma de lograrlo es empezar unas horas después de llegar a nuestras casas. Ese es el tiempo necesario para librarse del estrés que uno se trae de casa. Ahora que está en comunión con el paisaje, cepille y disfrútelo.
